Seven ways to improve your relationship...with yourself


The most powerful way to change or improve your business and any area of your life is to improve your relationship with yourself first. By creating a better relationship with ourselves we can more easily achieve anything we want in business and in life and be more fulfilled. Here are seven ways that you can improve your relationship with yourself… ways to improve your relationship, improve your business, better relationship

1. Access your personal power – Take responsibility for everything that happens in your business and in your life. The moment you say things like “He hurt me” or “She makes me so mad” you give away your personal power to that other person. Remember you are in control of your own feelings, thoughts and actions and this is how you get empowerment.

2. Resolve issues that hold you back – Sometimes fears or unresolved emotions from the past can cause us to attract the same unwanted situations or people into our lives. They can also create a lack of clarity about what we want in business and in life and can even stop us from following our dreams. By resolving these, we allow ourselves to be free to pursue our deepest dreams and to find true fulfillment within ourselves and in life.

3. Discover who you are - Once the veil of unresolved emotions and fears has been lifted, it allows us to go inside and to understand the essence of who we really are - our true magnificence is revealed to us. Then we can begin to really appreciate ourselves – we begin to listen to our inner wisdom, to discover and understand ourselves, how we relate to others and the world around us - and how we can best utilise who we are to achieve our business and our life’s goals.

4. Focus on what you want – Sometimes we create anxiety, stress and worry by thinking about things not turning out the way we want them to. Remember you get what you focus on. Instead, focus on what you want and see things turning out the way you want them to be - and the anxiety will disappear!

5. Change any unwanted behaviours or habits – Some of us have habits which we wish we could change eg. smoking, nail biting, eating unhealthy food, putting off paperwork or making calls. We may have even tried to change them, only to find that we went back to the same habits again. By understanding what triggers those behaviours we can use specific techniques to make the change long-lasting.

6. Get focused on your future – Take time out to clarify your dreams and set your business and personal goals for the year ahead. Set yourself up for success and avoid overwhelm from setting too many goals – this way your action will be more focused and you will also see your results quicker. Then stay focused and motivated by putting your goals up so you see them every day. Importantly, enjoy the journey of getting your goals.

7. Reward yourself – Acknowledge your successes, however small, each day. Most people are really good at beating up on themselves and regardless of how much they have achieved, they find fault. Your self-talk can be your best friend or a saboteur. Learn to become your own best friend and use a special word or phrase to reward yourself. You can also reward yourself by taking time out for you – take yourself to the movies, pamper yourself with a massage or spend a weekend with yourself…and celebrate your magnificence!
