Is Business Getting Too Personal?

With the pressure of deadlines and tasks that forever seem to pile up, how do you stop your own personal issues from effecting your business results? business getting too personal, pressure of deadlines, effecting business results,

Whether you are going through a relationship breakdown, you have an ill family member or there is other major health issues in your life, there is going to be a time when it effects how you drive your business forward. Or in fact it may even start to drive your business backwards!

What are we meant to do when this starts to happen and how do we split work from personal, can we even make the split?

There are a few techniques that you can do to ensure that your business and personal lives are kept separate so you can move forward in each area at the same time.

1. Recognition

Sometimes no matter what we do we can't stop thinking about a certain personal issue whilst we are working. Open up a new word document and give yourself five minutes to express what you need to express so you can get back to the job at hand.

Just by recognising it and how you feel will make it easier for you to deal with and move forward until it hits 5pm when you can spend more time on the issue.

2. Unplug The Emotion From The Power Point

Let's face it business is business and tears does no one any good, especially at in business hours. Imagine unplugging your emotions from the power point and plugging them back in to the task at hand. State to yourself that nine to five are business hours and in business hours you do business things. Time to deal with other emotional issues can begin before or after but not during.

By making this fine distinction you will start to behave more professionally and you will also feel a lot stronger at the end of the day when dealing with the persisting issues at hand. Otherwise you will be thinking about your issue all day and it will not only drag you deeper down into it, it will also drag your team members down at the same time.

3. Don't Fight It

Let's face it, when things are crap they are crap! Dont' push against what you don't want as it will push right back.

Imagine your personal issues are a brick wall and it is leaning in the direction of you, by pushing up against the issue and forcifully willing a resolve, you are in fact keeping that brick wall and those issues standing strong and weighing down on your shoulders.

Stop fighting it and let the brick wall come crashing down whilst going with the knowledge that whatever happens is absolutely perfect and as it should be at this point in time.

4. Decide

A lot your anxiety may be in the fact that you have not yet decided what type of course of action you would like to go down. Decide, then take postive steps to see this outcome fulfilled. You will automatically start to feel better because sitting in inaction can bring about a sick feeling within your body.
