Contra Deals!
A contra deal is when a business will exchange their own products/services for the products/services of another business.
The exchange is done to receive goods and services that will benefit each business and assist them each in their own growth.
The value of the services will be within equal amounts of each other to remain fair to both parties. As money isn't usually exchanged within a contra deal.
For example, you may offer free promotion for another business to your database, in exchange you receive a service for your own business, possibly even business coaching or graphic design work.
Both parties win because you have acquired a resource in your business that will be of assistance to grow and shape it. And the other business has acquired promotion to generate new clients.
The success of a contra deal is dependant on two business owners being true to their word and following through on what has been agreed to.
It is best to get it down in writing as to what is being agreed to so you that you not only have a point of reference to come back to but to also know clearly what is expected of you and the other small business owner.
